I was just sitting here thinking about a strange "P" family trait. We all sleep with a fan blowing on us. I think its the breeze plus the soothing sound it makes that helps us sleep. A couple of my grandchildren even bring their own fan when they come to spend the night. As far as I know the whole "P" family sleeps with a fan. A wimpy ceiling fan just isn't good enough, not enough breeze and noise. Mr "P" and I have an industrial fan in our room, if we put it on high it blows things off the night stands. Nothing like falling to sleep with the feeling of a strong breeze and the hum of that fan. If your having trouble falling to sleep try sleeping with a fan, its better then a sleeping pill. The "P's" highly recommend it.

Rick is the exact same way!! Even in the wintertime we have a fan on in our room that stays on all the time.
How quirky!
Oh for sure, all year round!
Same here. Well, my ceiling fan is strong enough. I can't sleep without the white noise. Even when it's 30 degrees outside, I just pile the blankets on. 🙂
I'll make sure one is available when there's a P family visit! 🙂
I must confess, I now need some sort of white noise when I sleep. You all have turned me to the dark side!
We all (including little 2 month old Nate) sleep with a fan in our rooms. So soothing…we even take it with us on trips. Love it!
I'll throw in my endorsement, as well. I use mine for an added benefit, as well. Living in an apartment, it prevents my sleep from being disturbed by most anything.
All year round, for sure!
Now that's hospitality!
Your a true "P" now. ;o)
Some where in our family tree we must be related.
Fans are better then those sound machines, with the added benefit of a breeze.
I sleep with my fan on year round, AND a machine that makes white noise. If I'm particularly hot, I'll turn on both the ceiling fan and the table fan. I need to be cold and unable to hear anything distracting before I can sleep.
Nothing like a cold room with a cool breeze and snuggling under some blankets with the hum of a fan. Yes, its the only to sleep.
My husband's the same way. Fan in our bedroom 24/7, 365 days a year. He's always hot. If he could, he'd open a window too. (But I won't let him due to the heat bill). I hate the fan on in the winter. I have to sleep with a korean mink blanket and a quilt on the bed. It's the only way I can stay warm. In the summer, because we don't have A/C, we have five or six fans in the house on almost all the time. Four fans in the bedroom in the summer, two window fans and two others. Without them, my husband can't sleep. He even had a fan in his room at a hospital years ago after surgery. A nurse asked him why he couldn't sleep, and after thinking about it, he said "It must be because I don't have a fan in here." She promptly got him a fan. He took a lot of kidding from the doctors.
I guess its good thing Mr "P" and I both like a fan.
I have a theory which this might help me collect data. I too sleep better with a fan on and lately I have been thinking it is partially due to that "ringing noise" medically called tinnitus. Does everyone who likes the fan noise have this occuring?Anyone have any other relief?
Wow, I just had to comment. I admit I am blog surfing again and when I saw this post I was happy to see my family is not the only one that does this, now I am thinking more people probably do this than don't! I think it's just a way to sometimes quiet the noise in our heads and our surroundings or maybe it goes back to the womb, who knows. The only time the fans go off at night at our house is when it's raining and in Washington state that's quite a bit, thanks for sharing. I have added you as a friend, hope you don't mind.
Love meeting new people and especially ones that share my same quirks. ;o) Proud to have you in my neighborhood, welcome.
Thank you Grandma P, I am Gramma D nice meeting you!
